LEE FIRE EXPLORER POST #110

Interested in finding out what it takes to be a firefighter?

The mission of the Lee Fire & Rescue Department’s Explorer program is to prepare young men and women aged 14 through 20 for a career in the fire service, while promoting character development, community service, and teamwork. Explorers are trained to the same state standards as their adult counterparts, using gear that meets or exceeds NFPA standards. Training includes fire suppression, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), hose handling, ventilation, forcible entry, streams, first aid/CPR, rope rescue, and extrication.

Following an introductory training program, Fire Explorers respond to actual emergencies with certified firefighters and EMTs, providing assistance through the performance of routine, supervised tasks. Fire Explorers assist with most routine responsibilities in the community and around the fire station, including: community relations, fire prevention, equipment and station maintenance, and training. Fire Explorers wear a uniform and the Department provides them with helmets, turnout gear, and other safety clothing.
